Who We Are
Sheena grew up in Kinloch where she was inspired by the men in her life. Sheena lost her dad when was nine and his loss weighed heavily on her. Yet even in death, he left behind a strong legacy of positive values for his children to follow. These values were elevated by Pops, the man who stepped in and accepted Sheena as his own daughter. It was from him that Sheena also learned how to sew, cook, and change a tire. She began crafting when she was five years old and would continue to do so as an adult.
The biggest life change was the birth of her son, Nashod. Sheena created a luggage set which she named “Shoddy Doddy Collections” after him. She also made blankets for Nashod as part of the collection. She made hats, scarfs, toys, pillows, curtains, and numerous other gifts for both friends and family. When Sheena wasn’t taking care of her son or working, she was most likely at a fabric store.
In 2021, Sheena was diagnosed with breast cancer. Initially, it didn't feel real. A thousand alternative possibilities ran through her mind as to what her true diagnosis was. It wasn’t until she went to the doctor’s and was given a shirt that labeled her as a breast cancer patient that the gravity of the situation kicked in. Sheena felt more alone than she had ever been. She was sad, afraid, and uncertain of what lay ahead of her. Despite this, she steeled herself and pushed through for her son. Sheena never talked about it. She didn’t want to burden anyone with the pain of what she was going through. It was Nashod’s final year of high school and the last thing she wanted was to ruin the celebration with such a terrible situation. So she kept fighting. After sixteen rounds of radiation, Sheena was cleared as a survivor for the treatment. This didn’t mark the end, however. She still had to come in for annual mammograms and medication for the next five years. In 2025, Sheena was told by her doctor to stop thinking of herself as a breast cancer patient and instead, a breast cancer survivor.
Sheena has fully devoted herself to Aneehs by Me. It represents all she had ever fought for. It represents her son, her strength, those core values instilled by the men in her life, and most importantly, that she’s a survivor at heart.
